Jirandeh

Jirandeh (Persian: جيرنده) (Tati: جیریندیه, Jirindih,[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Amarlu District of Rudbar County, Gilan province, Iran. It is north of the Shahrood river in the Alborz (Elburz) mountain range. Its residents are Tat people and they speak the Tati language.[4][5]

At the 2006 census, its population was 2,616 in 754 households.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 2,584 people in 819 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 2,320 people in 791 households.[2]

Etymology

In the Tati language, Jirindih means "lower village": jirin ("lower") + dih ("village," "land").
