Under the Democratic Party's 2024 calendar that was released in February 2023, South Carolina is scheduled to be the first contest of the primaries for the first time. However, there is currently a dispute with the 2024 New Hampshire Democratic primary date as New Hampshire state law requires that New Hampshire must be the first primary.[2][3]
Candidates
Incumbent President Joe Biden announced on April 25, 2023, his bid for a second term. He faces a primary challenge from author, progressive activist, and 2020 presidential candidate Marianne Williamson.[4][5]
