Biography

Moshe was born in 1975 in the city of Shira in the Ethiopian Tigray Region as the eighth of the twelve children of the sesame merchant Zallau and Esgadach (later Shimon and Esnath) Solomon. When he was about six years old, his family began a journey on foot to Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, with the aim of immigrating to Israel. During his stay in Sudan he was forced to work in menial jobs to support the family, including shoe shining and petty peddling. It was only after three years, in 1984, that the family was able to make contact with Mossad agents and thus fulfill their ambition and immigrate to Israel. Upon their arrival in Israel, they settled in Or Akiva and later moved to Ashkelon. During his high school years, he studied at the Neve Herzog high school in the area where he lives.

He studied at the Har Etzion settlement yeshiva but volunteered for full service in the Paratroopers Brigade, where he became an officer. He later served as a sergeant major in the 7491 Reserve Battalion of the Golan Brigade, his rank is lieutenant colonel and in the reserves he is the commander of a battalion in the brigade. He was later ordained to the rabbinate, studied for a bachelor's degree in education and Land of Israel studies at the Herzog Academic College and a master's degree in Judaism at the Ono Academic College.

For three years, Moshe guided patrol groups at the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel, then he managed the social involvement department of the Bnei Akiva youth movement and later he managed the movement's fulfillment department. In 2004 he founded the 'Hanni' association for mission communities of Ethiopians, within which he worked to establish sixteen community nuclei throughout the country and was one of the founders of the Council of Communities and Mission Groups in Israel. At the same time, he is a rabbi of the Ethiopian community in his city of residence, a director of the Kiryat Yaarim youth village, a member of the advisory committee for the Equal Opportunities Commission at the Ministry of Economy and Industry, and in the past managed the cadet program for local government (as part of the Atidim program) and the program for excellent leadership training in education at the Hebrew University.

In 2012 he won the Sussman-Joint Award for his social and community work.

In 2015, in preparation for the elections to the 20th Knesset, he ran for the Jewish Home party and won 11th place out of 54 contestants, ranked 18th in the final list, but in the end the party won 8 mandates. In 2022, ahead of the elections for the twenty-fifth Knesset, he ran in the primaries of the Religious Zionist Party and came in seventh place, which after a union with the Otzma Yehuditt and Noam (political party) was ranked 16th on the list. However, due to a shield on behalf of party chairman Bezalel Smotrich, he is placed 14th on the list, and finally entered the Knesset that way when the party won 14 seats. [2] He founded and managed the 'Hanni' association for mission communities of Ethiopian expatriates and the cadet program for the local government and is a lieutenant colonel in the reserves
