Malar (2023 TV series)

Malar is an 2023 Indian Tamil-language television series, starring Preethi Sharma,[2] and Agni in the lead roles. It was premiered on 27 February 2023 airing on Sun TV from Monday to Saturday. It is also available on the digital platform Sun NXT.[3][4]

Plot

The story of a two sisters Malar and Parvathy, but not siblings by birth, Parvathi means the world to her warm-hearted sister Malar.

Production

Development

After the ending of the Sun TV drama Abhiyum Naanum, its Production Company Vision Time decide to produce 'Malar', Initially, the title of the serial was named 'Shakti'. Later renamed as 'Vanmathi'. After some reasons the first promo was released in the name of as Malar on 15 February 2023.

Casting

Preethi Sharma[5][6][7] was cast in the female lead role as Malar.[8] This marks Preethi Sharma's return to Tamil television after a small hiatus. Agni plays the male lead alongside her.[9] Nivisha was cast Malar's elder sister as Parvathi,[10] but was replaced by Sunitha Srinivasan in September 2023.[11] Niharika Harshu was cast as Arjun's Mother. Varun Udhay was cast as Parvathi's husband.

Release

The first promo was released on 15 February 2023 featuring Preethi Sharma, Nivisha and Srilekha Rajendran.[12] The second promo was unveiled on 20 February 2023, featuring protagonist Preethi Sharma and Niharika Harshu and revealing the release date.[13]

The show started airing on Sun TV on 27 February 2023 replacing Abhiyum Naanum Time slot.[14]
