At the 2006 National Census, its population (as a part of the former Meyami District of Shahrud County) was 16,351 in 3,957 households.[3] The following census in 2011 counted 18,296 people in 5,430 households.[4] At the latest census in 2016, the district had 19,218 inhabitants in 6,035 households, by which time the district had been separated from the county to establish Meyami County.[2]
