List of highest-grossing Tamil films
Tamil cinema, popularly known as Kollywood, is the filmmaking industry based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The films are made primarily in Tamil language. Haridas was the first Tamil film to be nationally distributed across India in 1944.

Worldwide gross collection
The first Indian film to gross ₹200 crore worldwide was the 2008 Tamil film Dasavathaaram, in which one of India's most prolific actors Kamal Haasan portrayed ten different roles.[1]
