Co-star Cicely Tyson died on January 28, 2021, at the age of 96;[4] this was her final television role.

On October 26, 2020, the series was renewed for a second season.[5] It was announced in July 2021 that Joy Bryant and Henry Simmons would star in the second season.[6] Season 2 premiered on October 4, 2022.[7]
