Alvan, Iran
Alvan (Persian: الوان; also Romanized as Alvān and ‘Alvān)[3] is a city in the Central District of Karkheh County, Khuzestan province, Iran, and serves as both capital of the county and of the district.[4]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 6,100 in 1,081 households, when it was in Shavur District of Shush County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 7,092 people in 1,532 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 6,860 people in 1,824 households.[2]
In September 2019, the district was separated from the county, divided into two districts of two rural districts each and two cities (Alvan as the capital and Shavur), and elevated to the status of Karkheh County.[4]
