Enshi (恩施) is a city in the southwest of Hubei Province. It is a political, economic, cultural center and transportation hub. By the end of 2022, Enshi has a permanent population of 891,300, comprising 45 ethnic groups, 44 of which are ethnic minorities, mainly Tujia, Miao and Dong. The proportion of ethnic minorities in the total population is 41%.

History
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Jingnan Road was established in the fourth year the Republic of China, and Enshi County was governed by 6 counties including Enshi, Jianshi, Xuan 'en, Laifeng, Xianfeng, and Lichuan. Jingnan Road was changed into Shihe Road in the 15th year of the Republic of China, Hefeng County was changed into Shihe Road in the 17th year of the Republic of China, Western Hubei was changed into the 10th Administrative Supervision District in the 21st year of the Republic of China, Badong County was added to the county. The state began with eight counties. In the 25th year of the Republic of China, it was changed to the seventh administrative supervision district, and the jurisdiction remained unchanged.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Enshi County was liberated on November 6, 1949, and Enshi Administrative District of Hubei Province was established, with the Office of the Commissioner, still under the jurisdiction of the original eight counties, and it was renamed the Office of the Commissioner of Enshi of Hubei Province on May 12, 1955. In the Cultural Revolution, the rebels seized power on January 30, 1967, and the special office was paralyzed. On March 2, approved by the Party Committee of the Hubei Military Region, the Enshi Military Division established the Revolutionary Promotion Production Office, which was changed to the Revolutionary Promotion Production Headquarters on May 13. In 1968, the Enshi Revolutionary Committee of Hubei Province was established. In 1978, the Revolutionary Committee was abolished and the Enshi District Administrative Office was established.

Enshi City has a mid-latitude subtropical humid climate. The mountains and rivers in the territory are interwoven, and the height is wide, resulting in the redistribution of light, heat, and water, constituting a complex climate and colorful climate resources, showing the zonation of vertical climate and the particularity of local climate. Enshi City administers 5 subdistricts, 6 towns, 6 townships, and 1 ethnic township: Five subdistricts are: Wuyangba Subdistrict (舞阳坝街道), Liujiaoting Subdistrict, Enshi|Liujiaoting Subdistrict (六角亭街道), Xiaoduchuan Subdistrict(小渡船街道), Qiliping Subdistrict (七里坪街道), Jinziba Subdistrict (金子坝街道).

According to the Chinese Agency Enshi's economy depends on its people almost all are workers call (人民) in Traditional Chinese Language.
