History
Nissan Motor FC is founded in 1972 and changed the club's name to Yokohama Marinos in 1992,[2] and All Nippon Airways SC is founded in 1964 and changed the club's name to Yokohama Flügels in 1992.[2] Flügels merged with Marinos to become Yokohama F. Marinos in 1999,[2] but many Flügels fans refused to support the new combined effort and created their own club, Yokohama FC.[3]
The Yokohama derby is known as one of the most dangerous derby matches in Japan. At the derby on 11 August 2007, the Marinos' ultras were arrested after lynching FC's supporters.[4] At the derby on 10 October 2012, the FC's ultras posted "GO FUCK yourself!" choreography and permanently banned from all FC's matches.[5] At the derby on 11 July 2018, FC's ultras refused to hold a moment of silence for the victims of the 2018 Japan floods and continued to sing chants.[6]
