The Clerics
The Clerics (Indonesian: Sang Kiai) is a 2013 Indonesian drama film directed by Rako Prijanto.[1] The film follows the Muslim cleric and founder of Indonesian Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama, Hasyim Asy'ari through the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies and the Indonesian National Revolution. The film was selected as the Indonesian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards,[2] but it was not nominated.
