Amir Magrey was one of the four persons killed in a "gunfight" at Hyderpora area of Srinagar in 2021.[4] Muhammad Lateef Magrey, Amir's father[5] and a resident of Thatharka Seripora village, saw his son's grave for the first time on July 30, 2023, nearly 19 months after Amir's death. This followed a long-drawn legal battle in the Supreme Court and Jammu and Kashmir High Court. While Jammu and Kashmir police claimed that Amir was a militant, his family denied the charge.[6]
