Premise
Composer Steven Lauddem is creatively blocked and unable to finish the score for his big comeback opera. At the behest of his wife Patricia, he sets out in search of inspiration.

Production
In 2017, Steve Carell, Amy Schumer and Nicole Kidman were all attached to star in the film.[4][5][6] In 2021, Anne Hathaway, Tahar Rahim, Marisa Tomei, Joanna Kulig and Matthew Broderick were confirmed to star in the film.[7][8][9] Rahim and Broderick later left the project.
Principal photography was set to take place in late 2021 in New York City,[10][11] but did not begin until April 2022.[12]
Release
The film opened the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival on February 16, 2023.[13] In May 2023, Vertical Entertainment acquired U.S. distribution rights to the film.[14] It was released on October 6, 2023.[15] It was previously scheduled to be released on September 29, 2023.[16]
Reception
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 47% of 58 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5.7/10. The website's consensus reads: "She Came to Me's uneasy blend of romantic comedy and drama proves frequently frustrating despite the story's admirable aims and strong work from an outrageously talented cast."[17] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 53 out of 100, based on 20 critics, indicating "mixed or average" reviews.[18]
