Reception

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 75% of 79 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 6.4/10. The website's consensus reads: "Moving On fails frustratingly often to rise to the level of its leads, but Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are entertaining company regardless of the context."[8] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 60 out of 100, based on 18 critics, indicating "mixed or average" reviews.[9]
