Majdan Wielki, Zamość County

Majdan Wielki (Polish pronunciation: [ˈmajdan ˈvjɛlkʲi]) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Krasnobród, within Zamość County, Lublin Voivodeship, in southeastern Poland.[1] It lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) east of Krasnobród, 20 km (12 mi) south of Zamość, and 93 km (58 mi) south-east of the regional capital Lublin.

On 20 September 1939, during the invasion of Poland, German troops carried out a massacre of 42 Polish prisoners of war in the village (see also Nazi crimes against the Polish nation).[2] At least one Polish soldier survived the massacre.[2]
