Kebena Special Woreda
Kebena Special Woreda (Amharic: ቀቤና ልዩ ወረዳ) is one of the special woredas in the Central Ethiopia Regional State of Ethiopia. The district is named after the Kebena people and was part of the former Goro Woreda. Kebena is bordered to the south by the Wabe River, which separates this district from Kokir Gedebano, Muhor Na Aklil, Ezha and Cheha. Kebena is bordered to the west by Abeshge and to the north by the Oromia Region.The majority of the residence in the woreda is Qabeenaa people estimated that the 99% of the total population is Muslim. Wolkite City is the capital center of Kebena Special Woreda.
Demographics
According to the 2008 Census conducted by the CSA, WOREDA had a total population of 687,577 people, of which 367,551 were men and 320,026 were women; 20% of the population are urban inhabitants. The majority of the inhabitants identified themselves as Muslim, with 99.87% of the population reporting that belief, while 0.12% practiced Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, and 0.01% were Protestants.[1]
