The ICFAI University, Tripura was established under the provisions of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University, Tripura Act 2004 (Act No.8 of 2004), vide Government of Tripura Notification No. F.2 (529)-DHE/UDCA/2003 dated 15.06.2004. The University of Tripura is approved, recognized, and listed by the University Grants Commission UGC, under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.[4][5] The University is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) B+[6] effective November 30, 2018.

The University is certified by ISO 9001:2015 for its Quality Management Systems. It is recognized as the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) by MHRD. The Sponsor Society of the University is registered with NGO Darpon / Niti Ayog of India. The University received “Best Universities & Colleges 2018-19 in the special category from the Rubber Skill Development Council (RSDC), New Delhi on 21 November 2019. The University is a member of The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU),[6] London, UK, Association of Indian Universities (AIU),[6] New Delhi, India, and The Institution of Engineers (India), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Vignana Bharati, Academy of Hospital Administration, New Delhi(AHA), AMDISA (Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia), DSIR( Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology) Govt. of India, National HRD Network (NHRDN)- Gurgaon, Tripura State Yoga Association etc. IUT became DSWSE certified Institution for Persons with Disabilities. Ltd for AWS (Cloud Computing) Program. The University is a member of Oracle Academy bearing ID No: 23681394 dated 26/07/2021. Governance

The ICFAI University, Tripura is a professionally managed University. All the statutory bodies are constituted in accordance with the provisions of the Act, Statutes, and Rules of the University. The University has formed BOG, BOM, Academic Council, and Board of Studies (BOS).

Meetings of BOG, BOM, Academic Council, and BOS are regularly conducted to review the operations of the University, issues pertaining to institutional development, short-term, medium-term, and long-term strategies, programs to be developed, human resources, staff recruitment, training & development, and financial matters. Appropriate decisions are taken and guidelines are given for their implementation with the objective of achieving academic excellence.

The ICFAI University, Tripura is affiliated and recognized[6] by national facilitators such as University Grants Commission (UGC),[4][5] National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bar Council of India (BCI),[8] National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE),[9] Distance Education Bureau (DEB),[10] Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI),[11] Tripura Nursing Council (TNC),[6] Indian Nursing Council (INC),[6] National Cadet Corps (India) (NCC),[6] National Service Scheme (NSS),[6] ICFAI Scouts & Guides Unit.

Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises MSME (HI/BI), Govt of India has been recognized as a Host Institute to Support the Entrepreneurial and Managerial Development of MSMEs through Business Incubators.

Established Skill Management & Accreditation of Training Center (SMART) recognized by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Govt of India.

  • The University campus based at Agartala is a lush green campus spread over 32 acres[12] at Kamalghat West, Tripura.
  • It has over 6 lakhs sq. ft. of built-up area with academic blocks, workshops, laboratories, faculty room, auditorium, seminar halls, computer labs with latest computing facilities, well-equipped library, canteen, sports and recreation facilities. The campus also provides the latest teaching aids and is Wi-Fi 6 enabled.

Academic Complex: The entire academic area at IUT including Faculty of Management, Faculty of Science and Technology, ICFAI Law School, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Special Education, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Faculty of Library& Information Science, Faculty of Physical Education & Yoga, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, ICFAI Nursing School etc. is networked on LAN and Wi-Fi and supported with audio and projector facilities. In addition to these, there are faculty rooms, meeting rooms, Auditoriums, Moot Court, administrative offices, academic office, student support services office, career development & placement center, etc. The entire academic area is networked with internet connectivity of a very high bandwidth (1.2 GBPS) and the entire Campus is covered under CCTV surveillance.
