History
The intent to construct the temple was announced by church president Thomas S. Monson on April 5, 2015, during the Sunday morning session of the church's general conference.[4] The Abidjan Ivory Coast and Port Au Prince Haiti temples were announced at the same time.
On January 26, 2019, a groundbreaking to signify beginning of construction was held, with Robert C. Gay presiding.[2]
On March 27, 2023, the LDS Church announced that a public open house is scheduled for September 1 through 16, 2023, excluding Sundays. The temple is scheduled for dedication on October 22, 2023, with Ronald A. Rasband, of the church's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, expected to preside.[5]
