2023–24 EFL League One
The 2023–24 EFL League One (referred to as the Sky Bet League One for sponsorship purposes) is the 20th season of the EFL League One under its current title and the 32nd season under its current league division format. The season began on 5 August 2023.

On 19 May 2023, Wigan Athletic were deducted four points for salary breaches, with another four-point deduction suspended. On 26 May 2023, a further four-point deduction was imposed.
On 16 August 2023, Reading were deducted one point for failing to pay players on time and in full on three occasions in the 2022–23 season. On 13 September 2023, a further three points were deducted, for failing to deposit player wages on time.
On 3 October 2023, the game between Leyton Orient and Lincoln City was halted in the 82nd minute, due to a supporter in the stands requiring medical attention. After a lengthy delay of almost 1 hour, the referee, eventually took the players from the field, and the match was abandoned. It was later confirmed that, despite best efforts from paramedics, they could not revive him, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The supporter was later identified as Derek Reynolds, aged 74, who was a long life supporter of Leyton Orient.[2][3]

Notes:
- On 19 May 2023, Wigan Athletic were deducted four points for failing to pay players and staff on time following previous EFL rules breaches in the 2022–23 season.[35] Another four-point deduction was applied on 26 May, after the club's owners missed a deadline to deposit an amount equalling 125% of its monthly wage bill.[36]
- On 16 August 2023, Reading were deducted one point for failing to pay players on time and in full on three occasions in the 2022–23 season.[37] Another 3 point deduction was applied on 13 September, for failing to deposit wages on time.[38]
