Some of these negative effects include harassment and dislike wars where people increase the number of dislikes on certain videos. Therefore, YouTube disabled this feature to foster a more respectable and inclusive space.[1]

Seeing Dislikes on Your Own Videos

    As a creator, you still have the ability to view the number of dislikes within the YouTube Studio dashboard. Here are a few easy steps to do so:
    • Go to YouTube Studio on your preferred web browser. Now sign-in using your YouTube username and password.
    • Click on Content in the left menu. This is located next to a square icon with a triangle inside.[2]
    • Scroll through the videos listed under “Channel Content” until you find your desired video.
    • Hover your mouse over the Likes (vs. dislikes) section of your desired video. This is the section at the farthest right.
    • Look at your dislike count. You will now see a thumbs up icon and a thumbs down icon appear above your mouse. Simply look at the number next to the thumbs down icon to see how many dislikes your video has.

Using "Return Youtube Dislikes"

    Go to returnyoutubedislike.com. This browser extension is a workaround to YouTube's new change, allowing you to view the number of dislikes on a video. The supported web browsers for this application include Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, and Brave. Here are a few steps on how to use this browser extension:
    • Click on Install located in the middle of the page.
    • Now select the web browser you are using from the options listed under "Select Your Platform."[3]
    • Follow the on screen instructions for installing "Return Youtube Dislikes."
    • Once you've installed the browser extension, open up a YouTube video for which you want to view the number of dislikes.
    • Now simply look at the like/dislike count underneath the YouTube video. You should be able to see the number of dislikes.
    • Keep in mind that this number will not always be accurate. The browser extension uses data from before YouTube made this change, so you won't always get an accurate dislike count. However, the ratio between likes and dislikes will likely be close to accurate.[4]
    • To make good videos, try to minimize reverberations while recording.
    • You can record with a pop filter or in a closet with a bunch of clothes that may dampen the sound.[5]
    • Find the right distance to keep the microphone and then record.[6]
