Somero is a town and municipality in Finland Proper.

Understand

Somero is set in a rather hilly landscape, and the municipality borders the tri-point of the regions of Finland Proper, Uusimaa and Tavastia Proper. The town is roughly in the middle of the Helsinki-Tampere-Turku triangle, and not served by a railway or one of the main roads raying out from either of these cities, Somero can be seen as a getaway from the busier parts of Southern Finland. Relative to its population, Somero has been home to an disproportionate number of famous Finnish musicians - tango composer Unto Mononen, singer-songwriter M.A Numminen, rock singer Lauri Badding Somerjoki and opera singer Karita Mattila.
