LINYI QIYANG AIRPORT, is located in Heodong District, Lini City, Shandong Province, China, approximately 7.8 km from Lini City District. There are three main railway stations in downtown Linyi: Linyi Station, Linyi North Station and Linyi East Station. History
Linyi has a long history and is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilisation.
After the establishment of New China
In May 1950, after the establishment of New China, the Central-South Lu Administrative Region was abolished. Yishui Prefecture was established on the basis of Yimeng Prefecture, with 9 counties under its jurisdiction. In July 1953, Yishui Prefecture was abolished, except for Rizhao County, which was transferred to Jiaozhou Prefecture, the rest of the counties under its jurisdiction were transferred to Linyi Prefecture, and at the same time, Pingyi County, which used to be part of Tengxian Prefecture, was also incorporated into Linyi Prefecture. 1967, Linyi Prefecture was renamed Linyi Region, and in 1989, Rizhao City, which was under the jurisdiction of Linyi Prefecture, was separated, with Yiyuan County transferred to Zibo City. 1992, Ju County was transferred to Rizhao City, and in 1992, Ju County was transferred to Zibo City. In 1992, Juxian County was transferred to Rizhao City and became the present-day territory.In December 1994, the State Council approved the abolition of Linyi Area and county-level Linyi City and the establishment of prefecture-level Linyi City.
Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties
During the Shang Dynasty, the land was home to the states of Tancheng, Ju, and Fei.
Spring and Autumn Period
During the Spring and Autumn Period, Jisun Si and Shusun Zhou Qiu of the State of Lu built the city of Qiyang as a barrier to the southeast of the State of Lu, which became the predecessor of the present-day Old City of Linyi. Thinker Xunzi, Sage Zengzi, Sage Zhuge Liang, Sage Wang Xizhi, Great Calligrapher Yan Zhenqing and Inventor of Bead Calculation Liu Hong were all born or lived here, and 13 out of 72 sages of Confucius and 7 out of 24 Filial Piety in history were in Linyi. The bamboo slips of "The Art of War" and "Sun Bin's Art of War" were unearthed here.
