Kirovsk is a small town and ski resort in Murmansk Oblast, northwestern Russia.

The city of Kirovsk was established in the 1930s as an apatite mining town in the Khibiny Mountains. Originally named Khibinogorsk (after the mountains), it was soon renamed Kirovsk, after the Communist politician assassinated in 1934.

By rail

  • The nearby city of Apatity has a station on the Moscow-Murmansk railway, with several trains each day in either direction. Kirovsk has a railway station, but it is no longer served by passenger services.

By bus

  • Kirovsk is away from the main St Petersburg-Murmansk highway, and, therefore, is a dead station for the regional bus service. Buses run to Apatity, Monchegorsk, Murmansk, Kandalaksha.

Kirovsk has a small ski resort open from mid November to mid June. There is also cross country ski infrastructure.
