History
RFD-TV's The American Rodeo, often simply called "The American," first premiered in 2014. The event, organized and broadcast by the Rural Media Group's RFD-TV network, features a range of standard rodeo events with top professional competitors from across the nation.
The central feature of The American Rodeo is its substantial prize pool, often exceeding one million dollars. This prize is divided among the winners of the various events. In addition, The American Rodeo also stands out for its inclusion of amateur competitors alongside professionals.
The event is generally held at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Its wide outreach allows for substantial live attendance and increased television viewership. The event celebrates the traditions of the American West through its competitive events, music, and culture, all within the context of a modern sporting event.
