Rishiraj Singh

Rishiraj Singh (born 23 July 1961) is a retired Indian Police Service (I.P.S.) officer. He was Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services of the Kerala. He retired on July 31, 2021 as the Director General of Police (Prisons).[2]

Career

Rishi Raj Singh is an IPS officer of 1985 Batch of Kerala Cadre. He belongs to Bikaner Rajasthan. He worked in different capacities in Kerala like Police Commissioner of Cochin, Calicut City, Deputy Police Commissioner at Trivandrum City, Superintendent ofPolice at Kottayam and Kannur from 1993 to 1998. He worked in SPG as DIG from 1999 to 2004 when Sri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was Prime Minister. He worked as Joint Director CBI, in Mumbai from 2008 to 2013. He, on his own detected ‘ADARSH’ Scam; got the approval of registration of FIR and supervised the whole investigation. He have been awarded the Police medal for meritorious services in 2001 and Police Medal for distinguished Services in 2012.

As Transport Commissioner in Kerala he worked very hard and got reduced traffic accidents by 30%. This is the only time where accidents have been reduced anywhere in the country due to strict implementation of traffic laws. Deaths occurring in accidents were also reduced. He worked as Excise Commissioner and retired from Service as DGP, Prisons took charge as joint director CBI's ACB Central Zone, Bhopal in January 2013. He was posted to Thiruvananthapuram as the Transport Commissioner on June. Under his administration accident rates declined considerably.[3][4] He later became Excise Commissioner, Kerala.[5]

Singh was appointed to the IPS in 1985 and is a part of the Kerala cadre.[6] He started his career as an ASP in Kerala and served as DCP in Kochi and Commissioner of Police in Thiruvananthapuram. He was appointed SP and later DIG in the Central Bureau of Investigation.
