Penrith and Solway (UK Parliament constituency)
Penrith and Solway is a proposed constituency of the House of Commons in the UK Parliament. Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, it will first be contested at the next general election.[1]
Contents
The constituency will be centred around Penrith, stretching from Alston in the North Pennines to Maryport on the Solway Firth, and will include the following communities:
- Penrith, Alston and Wigton, currently in the (to be abolished) constituency of Penrith and The Border
- Maryport, Cockermouth and Aspastria, currently in the (to be abolished) constituency of Workington
- Keswick, transferred from Copeland (to be renamed Whitehaven and Workington)
- Dalston, transferred from Carlisle
