Orkhan Mammadov

Orkhan Vidadi oghlu Mammadov (Azerbaijani: Orxan Vidadi oğlu Məmmədov; born 1 July 1984) is an Azerbaijani economist, chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, chairman of the supervisory board of "Zira FK" Professional Football Club and Honorary President of the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation.[1][2][3]

Early life and education

Orkhan Mammadov was born on July 1, 1984, in Baku. He received his first education at school-lyceum No. 6 named after Tofig Ismayilov in Baku, and in 2001 he was admitted to the faculty of International relations and international law of Baku State University. After graduating from that university in 2005, he continued his studies at the Regent's University London of Great Britain on the International business and finance program. After graduating in 2007, he started a master's degree in Business administration at Odlar Yurdu University. Later, in 2010–2012, he studied Finance and credit at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics.[1][4]

Career

Orkhan Mammadov started his career in 2006 as a Leading consultant of the International Organizations Department of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In 2007, he was appointed as the deputy director of the Department of Entrepreneurship Development Policy of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and held that position until 2009, and then in the same year he was appointed as the deputy director of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan.[1][4]

In 2014–2016, he worked as the Head of the Department of the Ministry of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and in 2016–2018, he worked as the head of the Interstate Economic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.[1][4]

From February 27, 2018, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.[1][4]

During his leadership of SMBD, the agency became a member of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB),[5] World Association of PPP Units & Professionals (WAPPP),[6] the International Network for Small and Medium Enterprises (INSME),[7] on the initiative of the agency, the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Business Council was established,[8] various measures were taken to share the experience of Azerbaijan in the field of SMEs and to expand relations with foreign countries in this field.[9][10][11]

Orkhan Mammadov has been the honorary president of the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation since 2017 and the chairman of the supervisory board of "Zira FK" Professional Football Club since 2022.[3][12][13] During his tenure as the honorary president of the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation, the Azerbaijan minifootball national team became the European champion in the competition held in Slovakia in 2022.[14] Taleh Nasibov, president of the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation, while talking about the Azerbaijan Minifootball team becoming the European champion, mentioned Orkhan Mammadov's work as follows:[2]
