Nazzan Zanetello

Nazzan Avant Zanetello (born May 25, 2005) is an American professional baseball shortstop in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Early life and amateur career

Zanetello grew up in Florissant, Missouri and attended Christian Brothers College High School (CBC). He batted .399 with 15 home runs and 92 RBIs in three varsity seasons.[1] As a senior, Zanetello batted .421 with 9 home runs, 33 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases.[2] During the fall of his senior year, he was a member of the United States national under-18 baseball team and batted .429 in the qualifying tournament for the 2022 U-18 Baseball World Cup.[3] Zanetello also played basketball at CBC and was coached by Justin Tatum, the father of Boston Celtics player Jayson Tatum.[4] Zanetello committed to play college baseball at Arkansas.[5]

Professional career

The Boston Red Sox selected Zanetello in the second round with the 50th pick in the 2023 Major League Baseball draft.[6] Zanetello signed with the Red Sox on July 21, 2023 for an over-slot deal worth $3 million.[7]
