Miss Teen Intercontinental
Miss Teen Intercontinental is an international beauty pageant which began in 1973.[1][2]

The current titleholder is Stefany Calero Molina of Curaçao who was crowned on October 19, 2022, in Guayaquil, Ecuador.[3]
History
1973 to 1983
The first Miss Teen Intercontinental was held already back in 1973, when it was called Miss Teenage Peace International. Barbara Jean Sergi from the United States was crowned at the end of the event held at the Aruba Sheraton Hotel on September 8, 1973.[1][4]
In 1974 the pageant changed its name to Miss Teenage Intercontinental. And in 1979 the named officially changed into Miss Teen Intercontinental.[5] In 1982 its name was changed to "Miss Intercontinental". In 1984 the competition was discontinued.[6]
2005 to 2010
In 2005, Ecuadorian producer César Montecé relaunched and organized the contest at the Oro Verde hotel in Guayaquil, Ecuador. It was held for five consecutive years under the direction of the Queen of Ecuador company represented by Montecé.[1][7][8]
2012 to present
In 2012, the international pageant was held at the Edmundo Valdez Coliseum in the city of Milagro, after one year of absence.[9]
Since then, the organization has been headed by its President Rodrigo Moreira, who is the owner of the trademark rights.[1][10]
Competition
The competition consists of interview, introduction round, national costume, swimsuit, evening gown and question answer round.[2]

Notable Participants
Miss Teen India, Tina Munim was second runner-up in 1975. She later had a successful career in Hindi Cinema in the 1980s.

The event was organized by the Queen Of Ecuador Foundation, directed by César Montece Ochoa. The finalist countries were Ecuador, Greece, Venezuela, Peru and Puerto Rico, winning the representative of Ecuador.

Last August 9, the Miss Teen Intercontinental 2007 election was held at the Oro Vede hotel in Guayaquil. Fourteen countries participated, including Ecuador.

It is important to note that this would be the third time that a young woman from Milagro city has won the contest on behalf of Ecuador; in 2010 with Brigitte Salazar Llerena, in 2012 with Jennifer Ochoa Samaniego and now in 2021 with Nayeli Zurita Fierro.
