Malawi–Ukraine relations

Malawi and Ukraine established diplomatic relations on December 22, 1998.[1]

History

There are no high-level bilateral organizations. The Republic of Malawi falls under the purview of the Ukrainian Embassy in Kenya. Berlin serves as the home of Malawi's embassy in Ukraine. Between Malawi and Ukraine, there were no high-level bilateral visits.

Presidents of Ukraine and Malawi, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Lazarus Chakwera, spoke on the phone for the first time ever in the history of bilateral relations on August 4, 2022.

Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, President Lazarus Chakwera urged Russia to withdraw from Ukraine.[2]
