MaKami College
MaKami College is a post-secondary college in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It was incorporated in Edmonton in 2001, and was designated an Independent Academic Institution in Alberta in 2023, the first for-profit post-secondary institution to receive this designation in the province.[1] MaKami trains students to become licensed massage therapists, health care aides, master instructors, security professionals, medical office assistants, business administration professionals and personal trainers. MaKami College offers continuing education opportunities throughout the year, including English Language Arts, and workshops for students and non-students.

History
MaKami College started as a small vocational school in Edmonton in 2001, specializing in massage therapy. It expanded to include health care aide, master instructor, business administration, medical office assistant, security, and personal trainer programs.
In 2013, MaKami College opened a second campus in Calgary.[2] In 2019, MaKami College's Edmonton campus moved into the Boonie Doon shopping centre, a 10,219-square-metre (110,000 sq ft) space formerly occupied by the department store Sears.[3] In 2021, a second Calgary location was opened in the Marlborough Mall.
In March 2023, the school was granted Independent Academic Institution status by the Government of Alberta.
Accreditation
MaKami College is a member in good standing with NHP Canada, CRMTA, Canadian Sports Massage Therapists Association and the Better Business Bureau. They are also listed on the Government of Canada’s list of Designated Learning Institutes.[4]
Campuses
MaKami College's head office is located at Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre, in the Bonnie Doon neighbourhood.
The Calgary southwest campus was opened in 2013.[5]
Opened in August 2021, the Calgary northeast campus is located in Marlborough Mall.[6]
Community involvement
Since 2001, MaKami College has been very involved in the community by sponsoring charity events and helping recent immigrants get skills and confidence to enhance job opportunities. MaKami College's managing director, Marija Pavkovic Tovissi, is also the founder of the Queen Esther Education Foundation which helps recent immigrants with their ESL skills and assists with helping them find and secure employment opportunities. "MaKami and Queen Esther were both my dreams, and to see them succeed and have people notice is such a great experience."[7]
Awards
MaKami College was named the best college for massage therapy in Canada in 2023 by University Magazine.[8]
