This enzyme belongs to the family of transferases, specifically those transferring one-carbon group methyltransferases. Other names in common use include loganate methyltransferase, and S-adenosyl-L-methionine:loganic acid methyltransferase. This enzyme participates in terpene indole and ipecac alkaloid biosynthesis.
