Education
Lam graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) in 1997.[1]
Career
Lam qualified as a Singapore advocate and solicitor in 1998 and was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2007.[2][3]
Lam initially practiced law as a litigation lawyer at Lee & Lee.[4][5]
He joined WongPartnership in June 2009.[6]
His public appointments include: President of the Asian Patent Attorney Association (Singapore Chapter),[7] member of the International Bar Association Presidential Cybersecurity Task force,[8] member of the Board of Directors of Assurity Trusted Solutions,[9] and member of the Board of Trustees of Nanyang Technological University.[10]
Lam is also a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and is a member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre Panel of Arbitrators for Intellectual Property Disputes, as well as the World Intellectual Property Organisation Panel of Film and Media Mediators, Arbitrators and Experts, and the panel of mediators for the IPOS-WIPO initiative for Mediation for Proceedings Instituted at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS).[1]
Lam previously served as an IP adjudicator at the IPOS until March 2020[11][12] and was the legal project lead for the Creative Commons Singapore (CC SG) project.[13][14]
Lam is a lecturer and associate faculty at the Singapore University of Social Sciences.[15]
Some of the notable cases in which Lam has been involved include the 2006 piracy case brought by the Business Software Alliance against a Singapore company,[16] and the Singapore aspects of the 2021 Merck name dispute.[17]
In February 2023, Lam was recognised as a Senior Accredited Specialist (Data & Digital Economy) by the Singapore Academy of Law.[18]
