Kennard Winchester

Kennard Norman Winchester Jr. (born September 3, 1966) is an American former professional basketball player. He was a 6'5" (1.95 m) 210 lb (95 kg) swingman born in Chestertown, Maryland and played college basketball at Averett University and James Madison University.

Winchester started his collegiate career with the James Madison Dukes and averaged 3.3 points per game during the 1984–85 season.[1] He missed the 1985–86 season but improved to 13.6 points per game when he returned in 1986–87.[1] Winchester was selected as the team's most valuable player during the 1987–88 season when he averaged 16.1 points per game.[1] He was suspended by the team after he was arrested for shoplifting cable connection accessories for a video cassette recorder.[1][2] He transferred to Averett in NCAA Division III where he averaged 20.2 points per game during the 1988–89 season.[1]

Winchester played 107 games for the NBA's Houston Rockets from 1990–93.[3][4] He also played briefly for the New York Knicks in 1991-92.

Kennard Winchester is the men's Varsity Basketball Coach at East Chapel Hill High School as of May 2023.
