Indrajit Prasad

Indrajit Prasad is Bangladeshi endocrinologist, academic and medical researcher. He is a professor and Head of the Department of Diabetes & Endocrinology at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).[3] He is specializes in medicine, diabetes, thyroid and hormone diseases[4]

Early life and education

Dr. Indrajit Prasad was born on January 2, 1976 and lived on Elephant Road, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.[5]

Dr. Prasad has earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Dhaka Medical College (DMC) in 1999.[6] Following this, he pursued further specialization in the field of Internal medicine and obtained the degree of Fellowship of College of Physicians & Surgeon (FCPS) from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) on January 2006.[7] Then he obtained the degree of Doctorate of Medicine (MD) in Endocrinology & Metabolism from BIRDEM (Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders) on 2007.[6] He also completed another fellowship program at 2015 on Master of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (MACE) from American college of Endocrinology in United States of America.[6][8]

Career

Dr. Prasad held the position of assistant professor in the Endocrinology department at Sir Salimullah Medical College (SSMC).[6][9] Later he joined Dhaka Medical College and Hospital and served as an Assistant professor[10] and then assumed the esteemed position of Head of the Department of Diabetes & Endocrinology.[3] He assumed the role of a teacher for the Hypertension Certificate Course (CCH) in Hypertension and Research Center, Rangpur. [11]

He pioneered the introduction of inferior petrosal sinus sampling in Bangladesh.[6] He is a life member of the Bangladesh Endocrine Society (BES).[12][13]

Research and contributions

Dr. Indrajit Prasad has various contributions to the field of endocrinology through his research and publication endeavors.[14] His research interests encompass diverse areas within the discipline, including diabetes, thyroid disorders, gonadal dysgenesis and other endocrine diseases.[15][16][17][18][19][20]
