Hrad (toponymy)

Hrad or gord (archaeology) is a version of the Slavic word meaning castle. It is mostly found in Czech, Slovak, Belarusian and Ukrainian, which, unlike the other Slavic languages, do not use hard 'g' except in loanwords.
