History

The company was founded in 1963 by the architects Juan Ramos Martínez and Víctor Hermosillo y Celada,[4] initially offering design services. In 1976, they also began to offer construction services when Leopoldo de la Maza Téllez and Miguel Ávila Ferrer became partners in the company.[5] During the following decades, the company started to offer nationwide coverage by opening regional offices in Tijuana (1991), Monterrey (2002) and Mexico City (2005). In 2002 Hermosillo partnered with an international construction company (Gray Corporation) and a world-class design company (Albert Kahn Associates) to execute OEM projects. They have also made strategic alliances to execute automotive and industrial projects in Mexico with Barton Malow, Wieland, Sojitz, and other well-known international construction companies.

Technological Advances

In 2006 the company adopted the SAP platform as an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). In 2018, it adopted the BIM 360™ management platform as an interactive document control to work collaboratively and improve administrative management in all project phases.

Hermosillo was one of the first construction companies nationwide to design all its projects in 3 Dimensions (3D). The company is currently expanding its focus towards implementing BIM/VDC technologies to the point of developing its project management system with 5D integration, which consists of connecting a 3D model with costs and time schedule, enhancing a collaborative, continuous, and real-time interaction between different trades and the entire team that is part of the project, as well as with the client.[6]

LEAN Construction

Hermosillo has developed, since 2016, a construction project management culture based on the LEAN Construction philosophy and methodology, generating a higher value for their clients by reducing waste and delivering the project on schedule.[7]

In 2021, Hermosillo won the KOBAH award for excellence in LEAN Construction in Mexico.[8] During 2021 and 2022, 5 projects have been awarded the KOBAH Award in the project category. The LEAN Construction philosophy is the basis for the efficiency and competitiveness of every project they execute. Hermosillo was the first company in Mexico to deploy this philosophy within its operations. They are solid promoters and co-founders of the Mexican Institute for Research and Disclosure of Lean Construction A.C.

Operations

The company's operations are divided into four segments:
