Emily Austin (journalist)

Emily Austin (born May 24, 2001) is an American journalist, social media influencer, model, actress, and independent NBA broadcaster.[1]

Early life

Born on May 24, 2001, in the US to Israeli parents,[1] she grew up on Long Island[2][3] and studied at Hofstra University.[3][4][5]

Career

Sports

Originally planning to study medicine, Austin began interviewing athletes on Instagram during the COVID pandemic on a show she started called Daily Vibes with Emily Austin.[3][6][7] This led her to working at MTV on Music Lives On. She also worked for Sports Illustrated as a host at NFL and boxing events.[5][6]

In 2023, Austin started an NBA Podcast called The Hoop Chat w/ Emily Austin which features NBA players[8][9][6] such as Josh Giddey,[10] Grant Williams,[11] Mitchell Robinson, Immanuel QuickleyJalen Brunson[12] and Chet Holmgren.[13]

Other work

Austin was a judge at the Miss Universe 2022.[4][5] She is an ambassador for Puma[6] and joined the Israeli mission to the UN where she handles English communications and public relations.[1][14] Austin has written for sites such as Newsweek.[15] She is a sought after speaker at events and conferences.[7][14][16]
