Club career
He made his senior debut for Heart of Midlothian on 13 May 2018, in a 1–0 league defeat away at Kilmarnock.[2] He was one of four Hearts youth players to make their debuts in that match, alongside Chris Hamilton, Cammy Logan, and Leeroy Makovora.[3][4] Smith was subsequently loaned to Cowdenbeath, Arbroath,[5] Cove Rangers[6] and Queen's Park.[7]
He moved on loan to Hamilton Academical in January 2023.[8] On 1 September 2023, Smith joined National League North side Scunthorpe United on loan for the 23/24 campaign.[9]
International career

Personal life
Smith attended the SFA performance school at Broughton High School, Edinburgh.[11]
His older brother Callum is also a footballer –[12] they came up against one another in the Scottish Championship Promotion play-off final in both the 2021–22 (Queen's Park, with Connor on loan and among the scorers, defeated Callum's Airdrie)[13] and 2022–23 seasons (Airdrie overcame Hamilton aided by a goal from Callum in the first leg against his former club;[14] Connor levelled the tie for the opposition in the return, and the outcome was settled on penalties).[15]
