Camila Morrone

Camila Rebeca Morrone Polak[3] (/məˈroʊn/;[4] born June 16, 1997)[5] is an American actress and model. She is the daughter of actors Maximo Morrone and Lucila Polak; and was also raised in part by actor Al Pacino (who served as a parental figure during his long-term partnership with Polak).[6][7] Morrone made her acting debut in the James Franco film Bukowski (2013). In 2016, she posed in the Victoria's Secret lookbook; and walked the runway for Moschino, the following year.[8] Since then, she has made appearances in the action film Death Wish (2018), as well as the independent films Never Goin' Back (2018) and Mickey and the Bear (2019). Her role as Camila Alvarez-Dunne in the Amazon Prime Video limited series Daisy Jones & the Six (2023), earned her a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award.

Early life and education

Morrone was born in Los Angeles, California,[9][10] to Argentine actors Maximo Morrone and Lucila Polak (who goes by the stage name Lucila Solá). They moved to Los Angeles shortly before Morrone's birth, and divorced in 2006.[10] Camila's mother, Lucila, dated actor Al Pacino for several years; she still considers him her step-father.[11] Morrone graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 2015.[10] Her maternal grand-aunt is Argentine-Polish pathologist Julia Polak. Her mother is of Slovenian descent.

Career

Modeling

She started her career as a model and appeared on the cover page of the Turkish edition of Vogue in 2016.[12] She made her runway debut modeling for Moschino's 2017 resort collection.[13]

Acting

Morrone made her acting debut in James Franco's 2013 film Bukowski. In 2018, she returned to acting in the action film Death Wish,[14] and co-starred in Augustine Frizzell's directorial debut Never Goin' Back.[15][16] The latter film premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and was released by A24.[17] After being cast in Daisy Jones & the Six, Morrone indicated that she would focus her career on acting rather than modeling.[18]

On October 18, 2019, Morrone received the Rising Star Award at the San Diego International Film Festival.[19]

Personal life

Morrone was in a relationship with actor Leonardo DiCaprio for five years until 2022.[20][21][22]
