Battle of Khosta

The Battle of Khosta was military battle between Democratic Republic of Georgia and Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. Aim of this battle was to take the city of Khosta. It ended with victory of Georgians.[1][2]

Battle

On July 2, the Georgian army fought the rearguard of the Russian army near the approaches to Sochi. The Russians retreated to the city. The Georgian army camped 10 km from Sochi. On July 5, Georgian troops occupied Khosta. After the battle of Khosta, Georgians captured 6 cannons, 8 machine guns, and about 200 prisoners. They lost 9 men, including the battalion commander Poruchik Firtskhalava and Podpurchik Iason Filipia.[3]

The release of Khosta was met with great joy by the local population.[4]
