2021 City of Parramatta Council election

The 2021 City of Parramatta Local Government Elections were held on 4 December 2021 as part of the NSW Local Government Elections. Up for election were all 15 councillor positions in the city's five wards.

Background

The NSW Liberal Party did not endorse candidates for any wards following “savage internal politics’’ and fears over “brand damage”.[1] Previously the Liberal Party held 6 of the 15 council positions. Only Bob Dwyer chose to recontest the election as an Independent.

ALP Councillor for North Rocks Ward passed away from cancer, creating a vacancy that went unfilled due to COVID.

Andrew Wilson formerly of Our Local Community switched parties and contested the election as a candidate for the Small Business Party.

The elections were scheduled to be held in 2020, but as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Australia, they were delayed until September 2021. On 24 July 2021, it was announced the elections would again be delayed until 4 December 2021.[2]
