ZynAddSubFX is a free and powerful software synthesizer. It includes three main synth engines and many effects. It has MIDI and VST interfaces.

The main engines are named:

  • ADsynth which uses the additive synthesis technique, basically adding sine waves together to create instrument timbres.
  • SUBsynth which uses the subtractive synthesis technique.
  • PADsynth which is based on a new algorithm made by ZynAddSubFX author, Paul Nasca.
