Usage note
The Roma are a peripatetic ethnic group also known as Gypsies, Romani, Rom or Tzigane. They originated in South Asia.
Roma often use names typical of Russia or wherever they are living; many use Russian names with others and Romany names amongst themselves. Many Roma today, especially in the United States, freely use their Romany name. Many female Roma use geographic names such as Argentina or Barcelona.
