< TeX
Synopsis
\noindent
Description
If TeX is in vertical or internal vertical mode, then \noindent will force TeX into horizontal mode, otherwise it does nothing. The transition from vertical or internal vertical mode to horizontal mode signals the start of a paragraph. Most things that cause such a transition, also insert an empty box of length \parindent, but \noindent is an exception, as its name indicates.
