A line segment is a portion of a line that has two endpoints and includes all of the points in between those endpoints. A segment, therefore, does not extend in two directions. It ends at two different places on a line (denoted by endpoints). A line segment can be named by these endpoints, with a horizontal bar above the letters ( ).
