Although VisualBoyAdvance (VBA) and a fork of VBA, VisualBoyAdvance-M (VBA-M), were once the best Game Boy Advance (GBA) emulators, mGBA by developer endrift has surpassed both in recent years, becoming both faster and more accurate. While VBA-M can connect with the GameCube emulator Dolphin and is still a good emulator, mGBA is superior in practically every other way.

All three emulators are free and open-source software, though VBA is no longer in development and has a known security flaw allowing arbitrary code execution.

Supported platforms for mGBA currently include Windows, macOS, Linux, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch, Wii, and PlayStation Vita.
