Advanced Techniques
Once you've mastered the basic techniques, you may be ready to try a project that calls for one of these processes:
Striker
Larger work often needs a heavier blow than can easily be produced with a hammer small enough to use with one hand. For this work, two smiths work together. The master smith holds the work and taps with a small hammer to indicate where to strike. The assistant, called a striker, uses a larger, two-handed hammer to apply the blow to the indicated spot.
