Cheddar cheese is a firm yellow cheese made from cow's milk. It is probably the most popular cheese in the United Kingdom and comes in a range of qualities from mass-produced sandwich filler and mousetrap bait to matured farmhouse cheese. Cheddar takes its name from a village in Somerset, England, but is now made throughout the world, particularly in English speaking areas.
