< Arabic

لِماذا + فعل why: In Arabic, if one wants to ask "why" in a verbal phrase you say limadha (dh sounds like the "th" in "The")

لِما + اسم why: In Arabic, if one wants to ask "why" in a non-verbal phrase you ask lima

It should not be confused with لَما (lama) which is an old way of saying "a time".
